Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have a partner to participate in any lessons?
Absolutely not! You’ll meet plenty of people to dance with during our group classes and social events. If you’re interested in private lessons, you can participate by yourself as well. However, you’re more than welcome to bring a friend or significant other to join in on the fun!
What do I wear to dance class?
SHOES
We realize that some students arrive for lessons straight from work and others may be dressed more casually; either is fine. The most important thing is to wear something comfortable, which allows you to move easily. Of course, you’ll also want to select comfortable shoes. We suggest leather-sole shoes for gentlemen, and a shoe with a back for ladies (similar to what you might wear to go out dancing). Athletic shoes do NOT work well on the ballroom floor because they stick, which will make it difficult to move your feet. Although, athletic shoes works well for our Zumba classes. However, we are a retailer for Very Fine Dancesport Shoes, if you would like to purchase a pair of dance shoes.
CLOTHING
No need to dress up. However, if you want to dress the part, here’s what is typically worn for the following genres:
BALLROOM – Ladies wear a dress or nice dress slacks. Men wear nice dress slacks.
SHAG – Ladies wear pants. Men wear khakis and loafers.
COUNTRY WESTERN – Bring out the jeans and boots!
ZUMBA – Wear athletic attire and workout shoes.
LINE DANCE FITNESS – Casual / business casual attire that you can comfortably move around in. Leather bottom shoes (or something that won't stick to the floor).
FRIDAY NIGHT DANCE SOCIALS – We encourage you to dress to impress. Business casual and evening attire is welcomed!
TIP:
Wear what you’re most comfortable in but look well put together. This includes hygiene. Remember, you’ll be dancing closely with other people.
